Finance Committee to continue hearings, with seven representative bodies, on motor insurance

The Joint Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform, and Taoiseach will tomorrow meet to conduct a three-part meeting to further consider the rising cost of motor insurance in Ireland.

Session A will see presentations from Mr. Conor Faughnan, Director of Consumer Affairs, AA Ireland; Mr. Kian Griffin, Underground Ireland; and Mr. Justin Moran of Age Action Ireland. During Session B the Committee will meet with Mr. Dermot Jewell, Consumers Association of Ireland followed by Session C, where the Committee will hear from Mr. Mark Fielding, ISME; Ms. Patricia Callan and Mr AJ Noonan, SFA; and Mr. Neil Walker and Dr. Michael Gillen, IBEC.

The meeting will commence at 11.00 am in Committee Room 2, Thursday 8 September 2016, with Session B scheduled to begin at 2.30pm and Session C at 4pm.

Committee Chairman John McGuinness TD, said “The format of this meeting allows for a thorough examination of this important issue. The invited bodies represent strong constituent groups that play key roles in this broad issue and a wholesome debate allows for us, as a Committee, to consider the issue in context.”
