Future of Healthcare Committee to hear from Professor Tom Keane

The Committee on the Future of Healthcare will focus on the Cancer Strategy as a Case Study of Health Service Reform when it meets with Professor Tom Keane, former Head of the National Cancer Control Programme tomorrow, Wednesday, 19 October 2016.

Chair of the Committee, Roisin Shortall, says: “As part of public hearings on examining potential new models for health care in Ireland, the Committee will hear from Professor Tom Keane, former Head of the National Cancer Control Programme. We’re looking forward to hearing from Professor Keane about his experiences implementing the National Cancer Control Programme which was a strategy for a new approach to cancer control and treatment in Ireland. We will be keen to hear about the challenges involved in implementing change and the lessons learned and how the approach of the cancer strategy could be used as a template for reforming our health service and implementing practical change to improve healthcare delivery.”

This meeting will take place in Committee Room 4, Leinster House from 9am on Wednesday, 19 October 2016.
