An Bord Pleanála to appear before Housing Committee

The Joint Committee on Housing, Planning, Community and Local Government will meet tomorrow to consider the 2015 annual report and accounts of An Bord Pleanála.

An Bord Pleanala is responsible for the determination of appeals and certain other matters under the Planning and Development Acts, 2000 to 2014 and determination of applications for strategic infrastructure development including major road and railway cases. It is also responsible for dealing with proposals for the compulsory acquisition of land by local authorities and others under various enactments. The Board also has functions to determine appeals under Water and Air Pollution Acts and the Building Control Act.

Committee Chairperson, Maria Bailey TD, said: “The Joint Committee welcomes the opportunity to discuss An Bord Pleanála’s annual report and accounts with them.  Along with the range of important responsibilities currently held by it, An Bord Pleanála will play an important part in securing an increase in the level of residential construction under the Government's recently published Action Plan for Housing and Homelessness.   We look forward to a productive and informative meeting tomorrow.”
The meeting will take place in Committee Room 3, Leinster House at 9:30am tomorrow, Thursday, 27th October 2016.
