Chair of the Committee, Roisin Shortall, says: “In recent years, there has been a greater focus on mental health in Ireland and, as the Committee tasked with examining potential new long-term and sustainable models for health care in Ireland, it is important that we hear from those working in the field of mental healthcare about the types and ranges of mental health services that need to be put in place as part of an integrated care model. In terms of community and social care support and long-term care for older people, we will be keen to discuss the report of the Forum on Long-Term Care for Older People, and its findings on the current challenges, issues and concerns around long-term care.  The Committee is aware of the importance of home care packages and home care supports which help older people to remain in their own homes.  We will be hearing from those caring for older people, and experts on what they see as they best  approach to develop and provide supports and services for older people.”

This meeting will take place in Committee Room 4, Leinster House from 9.45am on Wednesday, 9 November 2016.
