Finance Committee to hear from Richie Boucher

The Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform, and Taoiseach will meet tomorrow, Thursday, 17th November 2016 at 9:30am in Committee Room 2, Leinster House.

16th November 2016

Mr Richie Boucher, Chief Executive Officer at Bank of Ireland, will appear before the Committee to discuss matters relating to the banking sector.

Committee Chairman John McGuinness TD, said, “The Committee’s engagement with Mr. Boucher, in his role as CEO of Bank of Ireland, is a welcome one and will allow us to explore his strategy and vision for the institution. Mr. Boucher will also engage with Committee members on wider issues facing the banking sector, including Brexit and its implications for the financial/banking sector and the EU-wide bank stress tests.”

“The legacy of the economic crash remains and mortgage arrears is one of the significant legacies of the downturn. Members will be keen to discuss matters around restructurings and repossessions, as well as issues around variable interest rates.”

“Other topics on the agenda tomorrow include reaction to lending practices highlighted by the Central Bank; review of the Central Bank’s loan-to-value (LTV) and loan-to-income (LTI) metrics, and consolidation / restructuring issues in the banking sector.”
