Future of Healthcare Committee to meet with HIQA Chief Executive

31 Jan 2017, 15:52

The Oireachtas Committee on the Future of Healthcare will hear from Phelim Quinn, Chief Executive of the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) tomorrow, Wednesday, 1 February 2017 as part of its hearings on health service reform.

Chair of the Committee, Roisin Shortall, says: “Tomorrow we will resume our hearings on health service reform when we will meet with the Chief Executive of HIQA. Given its role as the independent authority established to drive high quality and safe care for people using our health and social care services, we will be particularly interested in getting HIQA’s evaluation of the key issues in our current health system, its perspective on establishing a universal single tier high quality service where patients are treated on the basis of health need rather than on ability to pay and what it sees as the main priorities for inclusion in a strategy.”

This meeting will take place in Committee Room 3, Leinster House from 10 am on Wednesday, 1 February 2017.

Committee proceedings can be viewed live here.

Committee proceedings can also be viewed on the move, through the Houses of the Oireachtas Smartphone App, available for Apple and Android devices.
