Finance Committee to continue examination of EU State Aid Investigations into Tax Rulings

The Joint Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform, and Taoiseach meets tomorrow, Tuesday, 07 February at 4pm in Committee Room 3.

The Committee will resume its discussion of EU State Aid Investigations into Tax Rulings, and will broaden the debate to global corporate taxation structures. The following witnesses will appear before the Committee:

•    Mr. Brian Keegan, Director of Public Policy and Taxation, Chartered Accountants Ireland;
•    Mr Mark Redmond, American Chamber of Commerce;
•    Mr Jim Clarken, CEO, Oxfam;
•    Prof. Jim Stewart, Trinity College Dublin.

Committee Chairman, John McGuinness TD, said, “Ireland’s  Corporation Tax Regime has often attracted international attention, most recently in light of the European Commission ruling on Apple. Our Committee is keen to examine in greater detail corporate tax structures and the global taxation of multinational companies. Our witnesses tomorrow have expertise in corporate tax and will be able to provide us with insight into global corporate taxation. The Apple tax ruling will have implications nationally and internationally and our Committee is keen to address the impact it will have on Apple’s operations in Ireland and on foreign direct investment in Ireland.”
