Finance Committee to continue Pre-Legislative Scrutiny of Data Sharing and Governance Bill

23 May 2017, 12:31

The Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform, and Taoiseach will meet this afternoon, Tuesday, 23 May at 2pm in Committee Room 2, Leinster House.

The Committee will resume Pre-Legislative Scrutiny on the Draft General Scheme of the Data-Sharing and Governance Bill.

In 2014, the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform published a policy paper on data sharing and governance. Submissions were invited from interested parties. The policy paper subsequently led to the Department publishing a General Scheme in 2015. The General Scheme is the first step in the drafting of a Bill intended to establish a new legal basis for the sharing of data between public service bodies.

Read the Draft General Scheme of the Bill here.

The following witnesses will appear before the Committee:

•    Digital Rights Ireland Ltd;
•    Mr. Denis Kelleher, Barrister-at-Law.

Committee proceedings can be viewed live here.

Committee proceedings can also be viewed on the move, through the Houses of the Oireachtas Smartphone App, available for Apple and Android devices.
