Social Protection Committee resumes hearings on pensions

28 Jun 2017, 11:42

The Committee on Social Protection will resume its hearings on pensions when it meets with representatives from Active Retirement Ireland, ICTU and the National Women's Council tomorrow, Thursday, 29 June 2017.

Committee Chairman John Curran said: “Tomorrow, we will resume our hearings on pensions which were a key issue identified and prioritised by the Committee in our work programme.  There has been much concern in recent times in regard to various pension-related issues, overall pension coverage and sustaining pensions systems into the future. Following on from our meeting with Age Action last month, tomorrow we will meet with representatives from Active Retirement Ireland, ICTU and the National Women's Council to get the views and perspectives of these organisations on the current and future pension issues and discuss what initiatives or changes they would to see implemented in relation to pensions.”

The Committee will commence in public session at 10 am in Committee Room 4 tomorrow, Thursday 29 June 2017.

Committee proceedings can be viewed live here.

Committee proceedings can also be viewed on the move, through the Houses of the Oireachtas Smartphone App, available for Apple and Android devices.
