Minister for Finance to brief Finance Committee on range of EU matters

6 Jul 2017, 09:13

The Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform, and Taoiseach will meet tomorrow, Thursday, 06 July at 9.30am in Committee Room 2, Leinster House.

The meeting will be a chance for the Committee to engage with Minister for Finance, Paschal Donohoe TD, before the upcoming Ecofin Council meeting.

The Economic and Financial Affairs Council is responsible for EU policy in three main areas: economic policy, taxation issues and the regulation of financial services.

The Ecofin Council is made up of the economics and finance ministers from all member states. Relevant European Commissioners also participate in meetings.

Committee Chair, John McGuinness TD said, “Tomorrow’s meeting will be the first formal engagement by the Joint Committee with the new Minister to discuss a range of EU matters. It will be a chance for the Minister to both review the June ECOFIN Council meeting with us and also give us a preview of the July ECOFIN Council Meeting. The Committee will also engage with the Minister on the 2017 Country Specific Recommendations and the implementation of CSRs over previous years.”

Committee proceedings can be viewed live here.

Committee proceedings can also be viewed on the move, through the Houses of the Oireachtas Smartphone App, available for Apple and Android devices.
