Committee on the Eighth Amendment continues hearings on health care issues

The Oireachtas Committee on the Eight Amendment will continue its focus on health care issues at its meeting tomorrow, Wednesday, 18 October 2017.

The schedule for the meeting is:

Session A - 1.45 p.m. Risks to Health including Physical Health [Dr. Peter Boylan Chair, Institute of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists; Dr. Meabh Ní Bhuinneain, Mayo University Hospital; and Professor Sir Sabaratnam Arulkumaran, President-Elect of the International Federation of Obstetrics & Gynaecology & author of the Report on the death of Savita Hallappanvar]

Session B - 5 p.m. Review of options to change the Constitution arising from Module 1.

The Committee will meet at 1.45pm on Wednesday, 18 October 2017 in Committee Room 3, Leinster House. Committee proceedings can be viewed live here.

Senator Catherine Noone, Chair of the Committee said: “The Committee will continue its hearings on health care issues tomorrow when we will focus on risks to health, including physical health. Improved access to reproductive healthcare services and support facilities were among the recommendations of the report from the Citizen’s assembly. The Committee will hear from Dr. Peter Boylan Chair, Institute of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists; Dr. Meabh Ní Bhuinneain, Mayo University Hospital; and Professor Sir Sabaratnam Arulkumaran, President-Elect of the International Federation of Obstetrics & Gynaecology & author of the Report on the death of Savita Hallappanvar. Following our hearing, the Committee will then review options to change the Constitution following our Module one hearings.”
