24 Jan 2018, 15:23

Legacy issues will be back on the agenda when the Joint Committee on the Implementation of the Good Friday Agreement meets tomorrow at 2.15pm in Committee Room 2, Leinster House.

The Committee will hear from the Independent Commission for the Location of Victims' Remains.

Mr. Frank Murray, co-Commissioner; Sir Kenneth Bloomfield, co-Commissioner and Mr. Geoff Knupfer, Senior Investigator, will appear before the Committee.

Speaking ahead of the meeting, Committee Vice-Chair Declan Breathnach, said today, “The Commission is responsible for facilitating the location of the remains of victims of paramilitary violence who were murdered and buried arising from the conflict in the North. Their work is incredibly important in the addressing legacy issues and the Committee welcomes the chance to engage directly with them tomorrow.  There are a number of members of The Disappeared still to be located and Committee Members will wish to hear how the location efforts are proceeding, as well as more generally, how the Commission believes their work can be assisted by legislators north and south of the border.
