Minister to discuss housing, homelessness, “Rebuilding Ireland” plan with Housing Committee

16 May 2018, 17:44

Housing Minister Eoghan Murphy will address the Joint Committee on Housing, Planning and Local Government at 2 p.m. Thursday in Committee Room 1, Leinster House.

The Committee led by Maria Bailey TD has invited the minister to discuss government progress toward achieving goals detailed in its 2016 policy document Rebuilding Ireland: Action Plan for Housing and Homelessness.

The document proposed to accelerate delivery of newly built homes to market, reduce the number of families reliant on emergency shelter and the numbers of people sleeping rough, and moderate rises in the cost of property rentals and purchases.

“Committee members will be keenly interested to discuss the core aims of Rebuilding Ireland and help to identify realistic routes for achieving those goals," Deputy Bailey said.
