Ticket touts: Business, Enterprise & Innovation Committee to hear evidence on capping resale prices

The Joint Committee on Business, Enterprise and Innovation on Tuesday will examine Maurice Quinlivan TD’s bill proposing that tickets should be resold at prices no more than 10 percent higher than their original face value.

The witnesses appearing at 4 p.m. in Committee Room 4, Leinster House, are:

  • Deputy Quinlivan, Sinn Féin’s spokesman for business, enterprise and innovation. He is sponsor of the Sale of Tickets (Sporting and Cultural Events) Bill 2017.
  • Officials from the Department of Business, Enterprise and Innovation. They are expected to outline the pros and cons of imposing restrictions on sales of second-hand tickets, including the experience of other EU nations that have enacted such laws.
