Business Enterprise & Innovation Committee to discuss Department’s strategy 2018-2021

Secretary General of the Department of Business, Enterprise and Innovation Dr Orlaigh Quinn will appear before the Committee on Business, Enterprise and Innovation on Tuesday, 19 June to discuss the Department’s Statement of Strategy 2018-2021.

Committee Chair Mary Butler TD said: “Our meeting provides us with an opportunity to examine the Department’s strategy over the coming years and discuss its vision and goals for supporting business and enterprise and creating and sustaining high quality jobs. The Committee will be particularly interested in how the Department will promote and support balanced regional development so that all sectors and communities can benefit from enterprise development and job creation. We will also be keen to discuss what measures are being pursued to ensure that Ireland remains an attractive and competitive location for investment, enterprise creation and innovation.”

Before the Committee meets with the Secretary General, it will carry out scrutiny of EU Legislative Proposals: Schedule A: COM(2018) 184 on representative actions for the protection of the collective interests of consumers; COM(2018) 185 on better enforcement and modernisation of EU consumer protection rules; COM(2018) 238 on promoting fairness and transparency for business users of online intermediation services; COM(2018) 239 on digital tools and processes in company law; COM(2018) 241 on cross-border conversions, mergers and divisions;
