18 Jun 2018, 15:29

The Joint Committee on the Irish Language, the Gaeltacht and the Islands will meet with representatives from the Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection on Tuesday, 19 June 2018 to consider the answers the Department provided to the Committee in the recent questionnaire concerning the provision of services in the two official languages of the State by the Department to the public.

Chairperson of the Committee, Catherine Connolly TD, said that the Committee wishes to identify the strategy and policy of the Department in providing the full range of its services in both Irish and English, and especially in providing its services in Gaeltacht areas in the Irish language to the same standard and accessibility as it provides those services in English in other areas.

This meeting will take place at 4pm on Tuesday, 19 June 2018 in Committee Room 4, Leinster House. Committee proceedings can be viewed live here.

Committee proceedings can also be viewed on the move, through the Houses of the Oireachtas Smartphone App, available for Apple and Android devices.
