Culture, Heritage & Gaeltacht Committee continues hearings on the Arts

The Committee on Culture, Heritage & Gaeltacht continues its hearings on the arts at its meeting on Wednesday, 4 July 2018 when it discusses the issue of Supporting and Facilitating the Arts.

The groups invited to appear before to the Committee to discuss the issue are Galway International Arts Festival, Kilkenny Arts Festival, Tyrone Guthrie Centre, Listowel Writers’ Week and Kilkenny Music Festival.

Cathaoirleach of the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht Peadar Tóibín TD said: “As part of our extended consideration of the Arts, we will examine the issue of Supporting and Facilitating the Arts when we will hear from the organisers of a number of successful arts events and fetivals from around the country, and from the Tyrone Guthrie Centre.   We will be very interested to get their perspectives on role and value of arts in society, how we can make the arts more accessible and available to all and what supports are necessary to underpin, support and facilitate arts in all forms throughout the country.”

This meeting will start at 1.30pm on Wednesday 4 July 2018 in Committee Room 4, Leinster House. Committee proceedings can be viewed live here.
