Communications Committee to question ComReg on deficiencies in broadband rollout

10 Oct 2018, 10:40

Broadband will be back on the agenda when the Joint Committee on Communications, Climate Action and Environment meets tomorrow.

Representatives from ComReg will be before the Committee to discuss broadband installation issues.

Committee Chair, Hildegarde Naughton TD, said today, “Increasing the provision of high-speed broadband across Ireland is a key priority for the Committee. The Committee has a number of concerns relating to the rollout of high speed broadband, including the lack of competition and the high connection costs faced by customers. We have previously held meetings with Eir and ALTO and as a result of those meetings and the issues raised at them, the Committee wishes to engage with ComReg on the regulatory regime. Members will question ComReg on the possibilities for greater competitive pricing between providers and a more streamlined, efficient installation process.”

The meeting will start at 2pm in Committee Room 1, Leinster House.
