Housing Committee to focus on impact of Brexit on housing market

12 Nov 2018, 14:12

The Joint Committee on Housing, Planning and Local Government will meet tomorrow to discuss the impact Brexit is having and will potentially continue to have on the Irish housing market.

Representatives from the Economic and Social Research Institute and the Nevin Economic Research Institute will appear before the Committee.

Committee Chair, Maria Bailey TD, said, “Brexit will have a significant impact on the Irish economy, affecting jobs and income levels. This in turn will affect the housing market, though it is difficult to predict exactly how this will manifest, based on the lack of clarity around the final shape of Brexit. Our witnesses tomorrow will provide the Committee with the benefit of their expertise on the possible effects of Brexit on the housing market.”

The meeting will start tomorrow at 11am in Committee Room 1.
