Department of Children and Youth Affairs to brief Irish Language Committee on measures to support Gaeltacht families

Representatives from the Department of Children and Youth Affairs will appear before the Joint Committee on the Irish Language, the Gaeltacht and the Islands when it meets tomorrow.

Speaking in advance of the meeting, Committee Chair, Catherine Connolly TD, said, “ Our meeting tomorrow will focus on the level and quality of services provided in Irish by the Department of Children and Youth Affairs. Committee members will wish to hear about the levels of compliance with obligations laid out in the Official Languages Act and provision of services to Gaeltacht areas and the Irish speaking public. We will also discuss the challenges facing the early childhood education sector in Gaeltacht areas and the ways in which the Department supports the provision of Irish medium childcare/early years education in Gaeltacht areas.”

The meeting will start at 4pm in Committee Room 4, Leinster House.
