European Union Affairs Committee to focus on EU agency Eurofound

10 Dec 2018, 17:16

The Joint Committee on European Union Affairs will discuss the activities of Eurofound, the EU’s only agency based in Ireland, on Wednesday, Dec. 12, at 2 p.m.

The Committee will meet Juan Menéndez-Valdés, director of the European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions, known as Eurofound.

Eurofound has been in Ireland since 1975. It produces research on EU-wide working conditions, quality of life and other issues of interest to EU-level policymakers seeking to improve social conditions.

“The Committee looks forward to learning more about this agency, the research and analytical work it produces behind the scenes, and the many ways that its expertise identifies trends, shapes policies and raises standards across the EU,” said Committee Chairman Michael Healy-Rae TD.

“We are particularly interested in the Foundation’s comparative work, seeing how Ireland measures up compared to our EU partners and what that might mean for our own policy priorities,” Deputy Healy-Rae said.

The meeting in Committee Room 1 can be viewed live here.
