Joint Committee on Culture, Heritage and Gaeltacht to explore importance of arts in Irish life

The Joint Committee on Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht will explore the many ways that the arts enrich Irish life on Wednesday, Jan. 23, at 1:30 p.m.

Scheduled witnesses include

  • Garry Hynes, artistic director of the Druid Theatre
  • Philip King, musician and filmmaker
  • Br. Mark Patrick Hederman, former abbot of Glenstal Abbey School
  • Theo Dorgan, poet and writer

“Our witnesses represent some of the finest creative minds in Ireland today,” said Committee Chairman Aengus Ó Snodaigh TD. “The Committee looks forward to assessing the value of the arts in Ireland today and discussing how we as a society can best nurture individual and communal creativity in our digitised, interconnected world.”
