30 Jan 2019, 14:44

The Joint Committee on Housing, Planning & Local Government will meet tomorrow (Thursday) at 9.30 in Committee Room 1, Leinster House to discuss the topic of Affordable Housing with three key stakeholder groups invited to address the committee.

The Committee will hear from the following witnesses and organisations.

•    John O’Connor, Chief Executive Officer of the Housing Agency.
•    Conor O’Toole and Barra Roantree of the ESRI.
•    Hugh Brennan of Ó Cualann Cohousing Alliance CLG.

In advance of the meeting, the Chairman of the Joint Committee, Deputy Maria Bailey, said: “The Committee is eager to examine the issues facing us in relation to Affordable Housing.”

“It is important that we have housing available that is affordable for households across a wide range of income groups. Housing for purchase and for rental are the main elements of this.”

“With this in mind the insight of Approved Housing Body Ó Cualann Cohousing Alliance CLG is most welcome, and similarly we look forward to the contributions of the ESRI and the Housing Agency.”
