Communications Select Committee to discuss Motion on Ratification of the Minamata Convention on Mercury

The Select Committee on Communications, Climate Action and Environment will meet tomorrow to discuss a motion on the Ratification of the Minamata Convention on Mercury.

 

 

 

The UN Minamata Convention on Mercury provides an international regulatory framework with the aim of protecting human health and the global environment from the harmful effects of mercury. The Minamata Convention addresses all aspects related to the use of mercury throughout its lifecycle and sets out measures such as banning mercury mining, restricting the manufacture and trade of mercury added-products, and ensuring the environmentally sound management of mercury waste.

Minister for Communication, Climate Action and Environment, Richard Bruton, will attend at Select Committee. 

The meeting will start at 4pm in Committee Room 2, Leinster House.
