Joint Committee on Transport, Tourism & Sport to discuss the topic of Brexit and Transport

The Joint Committee on Transport, Tourism & Sport will meet tomorrow (Wednesday) at 13.30 in Committee Room 1, Leinster House to discuss the topic of Brexit and Transport in Ireland.

In advance of the March 29 withdrawal, Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, Shane Ross TD will discuss preparations for, and the implications of Brexit, on Transport in Ireland, particularly, in the event of a ‘No Deal’ scenario.

Ahead of the meeting, the Chairman of the Joint Committee, Committee Chairman Fergus O’Dowd TD, said: “The Committee is eager examine the issues facing us in relation to Brexit, and its impact on transport across the country, especially in a ‘No Deal’ scenario.

“With that in mind, all members of the Committee very much welcome the opportunity to hear from Minister Shane Ross TD”, said Deputy O’Dowd.

“Brexit potentially impacts on many areas of Transport across Ireland, from flights, daily cross border crossings of workers and people, and the overall impact on the economy from road haulage to tourism, and many other matters.”
