Joint Committee on Transport, Tourism & Sport to discuss the topic of Cruise Ships at Dublin Port

28 May 2019, 11:49

The Joint Committee on Transport, Tourism & Sport will meet tomorrow (Wednesday) at 1.30pm in Committee Room 2, Leinster House to discuss matters related to Cruise Ships.

The All-Ireland Cruise Ship Action Group (AICSAG) will come before the Committee.

Ahead of the meeting, the Chairman of the Joint Committee, Committee Chairman Fergus O’Dowd TD, said: “The Committee has scheduled a meeting with AICSAG as they look for a way to facilitate both cargo and cruise ships at Dublin Port, if at all possible.  There appears to be challenges with respect to capacity at the port, and in time we hope to have the Dublin Port Company before the Committee for further discussion.

Deputy O’Dowd added: “There have been many positives in terms of the development of Dublin Port in the last decade, increased business and visitors to our country is a positive thing and 2018 saw Dublin win sea trading award for Port of the Year.”
