Committee on Foreign Affairs, Trade & Defence to discuss retention of personnel in the Defence Forces.

The Joint Committee on Foreign Affairs, Trade & Defence will meet tomorrow, Thursday, at 09:30 in Committee Room 1, Leinster House to discuss the retention of personnel in the Defence Forces.

The Representative Association of Commissioned Officers (RACO) will update the committee, with General Secretary, Commandant Conor King due to appear to discuss the officers, soldiers, sailors and aircrew of Óglaigh na hÉireann.

The Representative Association of Commissioned Officers was formally established in 1991 by statute under the Defence Amendment Act. Defence Force Regulation S.6 is the Statutory Instrument that gives effect to the Act and governs, inter alia, the establishment, funding and operation of Representative Associations in the Permanent Defence Force. The Scope of Representation of the Association, as set out in Defence Forces Regulations S.6, includes the pay and conditions of service for members of the Army, Air Corps and Naval Service.
