Tánaiste to brief Foreign Affairs Committee on Foreign Affairs Council engagement

The Committee on Foreign Affairs and Trade and Defence will hear from Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade Simon Coveney at a meeting tomorrow, Thursday, 27June, Committee Room, 4, Leinster House at 2pm.

Minister Coveney will brief the Committee on recent discussions at Foreign Affairs Council (FAC) meetings.

Over recent months the Foreign Affairs Council has deliberated on the European Union’s relations with a wide variety of countries and regions. 

Speaking ahead of the meeting, Committee chair Brendan Smith TD said: “This meeting provides the Committee with an opportunity to hear an update from Minister Coveney on issues raised at meetings of the Foreign Affairs Council of Ministers. The Committee is particularly interested in hearing about FAC’s discussions on and the delivery of humanitarian aid to Yemen and also the EU’s engagement in the wider Middle East/North Africa region.”
