Foreign Affairs Committee to hear from Justice for Colombia (JFC)

The Colombian Peace Process will be discussed at the Joint Committee on Foreign Affairs and Trade, and Defence tomorrow, Thursday, 11 July in Leinster House, Committee Room 1 at 9.30am.

JFC promotes links of solidarity between British and Irish trade unions and organisations in Colombia and gives a political voice internationally to Colombian civil society through its work in the Irish, British and EU Parliaments.

Senior General Secretary Designate of Fórsa, Ireland’s second largest trade union, Kevin Callinan and Mariela Kohon, Senior International Officer Trades Union Congress will outline the work of the Non Government Organisation (NGO) Justice for Colombia at the hearing.

Speaking before the meeting, Committee chairperson, Brendan Smith TD said: “We look forward to hearing about the path to the 2016 Colombian Peace Agreement, the situation on the ground there since it was ratified and the current challenges that pertain in Colombia.”
