Joint Committee on Housing, Planning and Local Government to carry out pre-legislative scrutiny of the Land Development Agency Bill 2019

1 Oct 2019, 17:18

The Joint Committee on Housing, Planning and Local Government will begin pre-legislative scrutiny of the general scheme of the Land Development Agency Bill 2019 tomorrow (Wednesday) at 9.30am in Committee Room 1, Leinster House.

Members will hear submissions from officials from the Department of Housing, Planning and Local Government and from the Land Development Agency (LDA).

The general scheme of the Land Development Agency Bill 2019 was approved by the Government in July to establish the LDA on a legislative basis and set out the objectives and functions of the agency.

Speaking ahead of the meeting, Committee Chairman Noel Rock TD said: ”Pre-legislative scrutiny offers the Committee the opportunity to examine the draft heads of the Land Development Agency Bill 2019. We look forward to engaging with the Department officials and the LDA representatives before we report back to both Houses with our recommendations.”
