Youth mental health focus at meeting of Joint Committee on Children and Youth Affairs

The Joint Committee on Children and Youth Affairs continues its focus on youth mental health, tomorrow, Wednesday, 9 October, at a meeting in Leinster House, Committee Room 1 at 10am.

Representatives from the National Youth Council of Ireland, National Office for Suicide Prevention, Irish Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Children (ISPCC), Mental Health Reform, EPIC and SpunOut are scheduled to attend the meeting.

Speaking in advance of the meeting, Committee Chairman, Alan Farrell TD said: “It is appropriate that this important discussion coincides with Mental Health Awareness Week. Indeed, Thursday is World Mental Health Day and this year’s theme is “Suicide Prevention”.

“Tomorrow we will have the opportunity to hear from a diverse range of groups on youth mental health including EPIC, which works with and for young children and adults who are currently in care of have experience of being in care to the the National Office for Suicide Prevention.”
