Joint Committee on Housing, Planning and Local Government to continue pre-legislative scrutiny of the Land Development Agency Bill 2019

9 Oct 2019, 10:51

The Joint Committee on Housing, Planning and Local Government will continue pre-legislative scrutiny of the general scheme of the Land Development Agency Bill 2019 tomorrow (Thursday) at 9am in Committee Room 1, Leinster House.

Members will hear submissions from representatives of the National Economic and Social Council (NESC) and the Economic and Social Research Institute (ESRI).

The general scheme of the Land Development Agency Bill 2019 was approved by the Government in July to establish the LDA on a legislative basis and set out the objectives and functions of the agency.

Speaking ahead of the meeting, Committee Chairman Noel Rock TD said: “Following our engagement last week with Housing Department officials and the LDA representatives, Members are keen to hear the views of these key economic and social policy bodies on this important piece of legislation before we report back to the Dáil and Seanad.”

Committee proceedings can be viewed live here.

Committee proceedings can also be viewed on the move, through the Houses of the Oireachtas Smartphone App, available for Apple and Android devices.
