Joint Committee on Public Petitions to consider a range of petitions including one seeking additional funding for Autistic Spectrum Disorder classes

22 Oct 2019, 17:36

The Joint Committee on Public Petitions will meet tomorrow (Wednesday) to consider a range of petitions including a petition to provide more funding for additional and larger Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) classes and special classes in mainstream schools.

The meeting at 2.30pm in Committee Room 1, Leinster House will also examine petitions seeking a tax increase for companies which buy investment properties for buy-to-let investments to disincentivise this practice and free-up housing for people to buy and live in, a policy of labelling on all non-recyclable packaging stating that it is not recyclable and a ‘Riverdance’ national holiday.

Committee chairman, Seán Sherlock TD said: “The Committee’s role is to give members of the public the opportunity to place issues of concern directly before the Oireachtas and to influence changes in public policy where appropriate. We will give these petitions our full consideration before announcing, in public session, the decision on each one.”

The meeting in Committee Room 1 can be viewed live here.

Committee proceedings can also be viewed on the move, through the Houses of the Oireachtas Smartphone App, available for Apple and Android devices.
