5 Nov 2019, 12:57

The Joint Committee on Justice and Equality will tomorrow (Wednesday) meet with the Secretary General of the Department Justice and Equality, Aidan O’Driscoll, to discuss the transformation programme for the department.

Ahead of the meeting at 9am in Committee Room 2, Leinster House, Committee Chairman Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin TD said: “The Department of Justice and Equality employs more than 2,600 people and 25 state agencies fall within its remit. Its mission is to advance community safety and national security, promote justice and equality, and safeguard human rights.

“This transformation programme was the biggest restructuring of a government department in the history of the State. We look forward to hearing from the Secretary General and his colleagues about how they implemented this ambitious programme, the processes involved and what it means for the work they do and the services they provide.”
