Joint Committee on Public Petitions to consider a range of petitions including two seeking exemption from court fees

5 Nov 2019, 17:03

The Joint Committee on Public Petitions will meet tomorrow (Wednesday) to consider a range of petitions, including two seeking exemption from fees for court actions.

The meeting at 1.30pm in Committee Room 1, Leinster House will also consider two petitions which have been returned to the Committee following examination by other Committees – one relating to paper receipts on card transactions and the second regarding prospecting licences for fossil fuels.

Committee chairman, Seán Sherlock TD said: “The Committee’s role is to give members of the public the opportunity to place issues of concern directly before the Oireachtas and to influence changes in public policy where appropriate. We will give these petitions our full consideration before announcing, in public session, the decision on each one.”

Watch the Committee meeting live.

Committee proceedings can also be viewed on the move, through the Houses of the Oireachtas Smartphone App, available for Apple and Android devices.
