Joint Committee on Justice and Equality to resume discussions on access to justice and legal costs

10 Dec 2019, 17:14

The Joint Committee on Justice and Equality will meet tomorrow (Wednesday) at 9am in Committee Room 2, Leinster House to resume discussions on access to justice and legal costs.

The Committee will hear submissions from Community Law and Mediation, Mercy Law Resource Centre and Professor Gerard Whyte of Trinity College Dublin.

Ahead of the meeting, Committee Chairman Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin TD said: “This is our second engagement with stakeholders and experts on high legal costs and other factors which act as a barrier to many people seeking access to justice through the courts. We look forward to hearing the views of community law service providers and of Professor Whyte on this important issue.”
