Committee of Public Accounts (PAC) to discuss C&AG’s Appropriation Accounts 2018 and 2019 for Department of Education

20 Oct 2020, 17:41

The Committee of Public Accounts (PAC) will meet tomorrow, Wednesday, 21 October, at 4.30pm in Committee Room 3 of Leinster House to consider the Comptroller and Auditor General’s Appropriation Accounts for 2018 and 2019 for Vote 26, Education and Skills.

The meeting, chaired by Deputy Brian Stanley, will hear from the C&AG, Seamus McCarthy, followed by officials from the Department of Education.

Ahead of the meeting, Deputy Stanley said: “The Department of Education is the third highest spending department and had voted expenditure of €9.8billion in 2018 and €10.3billion last year. The Committee feels it is important to examine how this money is spent and that value for money is achieved for taxpayers.”

The PAC is a standing committee of Dáil Éireann which focuses on ensuring public services are run efficiently and achieve value for money.

The meeting in Committee Room 3 can be viewed live on Oireachtas TV.

Committee proceedings can also be viewed on the Houses of the Oireachtas Smartphone App, available for Apple and Android devices.
