Joint Committee on Enterprise, Trade and Employment to discuss measures to support enterprise contained in Budget 2021

20 Oct 2020, 17:21

The Joint Committee on Enterprise, Trade and Employment will meet tomorrow, Wednesday, 21 October, to discuss measures to support enterprise contained in Budget 2021.

The meeting at 9am in Committee Room 2 of Leinster House will be briefed by officials from the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment led by Pauline Mulligan, Head of Corporate Services.

Ms Mulligan will be accompanied by Declan Hughes, Head of Indigenous Enterprise, SMEs and Entrepreneurship Division, while Cathal O’Gorman of the Department’s Finance Unit will join the meeting remotely.

Committee Chairman Deputy Maurice Quinlivan said: “Covid-19 has had a devastating effect on businesses across the country and State supports are critical to their survival and the protection of jobs. This is even more important now as we move into Level 5 restrictions that will see many businesses closed for the next six weeks.

“While the Budget increased supports for enterprises impacted by the pandemic and to prepare for the challenges arising from Brexit, the Committee is anxious hear how these supports will work to protect businesses and jobs in the weeks and months ahead.”

The Joint Committee on Enterprise, Trade and Employment has 14 Members, nine from the Dáil and five from the Seanad.

The meeting in Committee Room 2 can be viewed live on Oireachtas TV.

Committee proceedings can also be viewed on the Houses of the Oireachtas Smartphone App, available for Apple and Android devices.
