3 Nov 2020, 02:34

The Oireachtas Joint Committee on European Union Affairs will discuss a range of issues facing the EU with Irish Members of the European Parliament (MEPs), tomorrow, Wednesday, 4 November, in Leinster House, Committee Room 3 at 9am.

MEPs; Barry Andrews, Deirdre Clune, Clare Daly, Maria Walsh and Billy Kelleher will appear, remotely, before the Committee of TDs and Senators.

Speaking before the meeting, Committee Chairman, Joe McHugh TD said: “This engagement is a valuable opportunity for Committee members to discuss a range of issues facing the EU.

“For example, we hope to get the views of the MEPs on the European Commission’s recently published migration and asylum package; A New Pact for Migration and Asylum.

“Issues around the Conference on the Future of Europe including possible topics for debate, the European Commission’s new Rule of Law Mechanism and the first Annual Rule of Law report are other areas the Committee members want to examine with MEPs.”
