On Thursday, a motion regarding Technological Universities will be discussed at 1.20pm in Committee Room 2. As of January 1, 2021, Cork IT and Tralee IT will cease to exist in their current name, as they merge to become Munster Technological University  (Ollscoil Teicneolaíochta na Mumhan in Irish).

Simon Harris, Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science will appear, as will Niall Collins, Minister of State at the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science to consider a Motion to establish Munster Technological University.

Speaking in advance of the meetings, Committee Chairperson, Paul Kehoe TD, said: “The work programme for the week ahead  is busy and varied, Leaving Cert 2020 was challenging for the entire school community so as a committee we are eager to receive a briefing from Officials regarding the 2020 Calculated Grades Process and, very importantly,  the plans being developed for Leaving Cert 2021. Later-on in the week we will consider a Motion to establish Munster Technological University on 1 January 2021.”

The meetings can be viewed live on Oireachtas TV.
