European Union Affairs Minister Thomas Byrne to appear before Joint Committee

24 Nov 2020, 12:06

The Joint Committee on European Union Affairs will hear from Minister of State with responsibility for EU Affairs Thomas Byrne TD at a meeting in Leinster House tomorrow, Wednesday, 25 November at 9am.

It is the first time for the Committee to hear from the Minister of State.

Speaking before the meeting, Committee chairman Deputy Joe McHugh said: “The Committee welcomes the Minister of State for EU Affairs to the meeting. The engagement of course provides an opportunity for Members to resume the discussion on The Conference on the Future of Europe. However, the meeting is also an opportunity for Members to explore with Minister Byrne a broad range of challenges and issues facing the EU in the weeks and months ahead.  These issues include the implications of the end of the Brexit transition period, proposals on reforming the EU migration and asylum system and the on-going response to Covid-19. “

The meeting is taking place in Committee Room 3. View the meeting live.
