Joint Committee on Enterprise, Trade and Employment to discuss ‘Duffy Cahill Report’ with Minister English

24 Nov 2020, 15:50

The Joint Committee on Enterprise, Trade and Employment will meet tomorrow, Wednesday, 25 November, with the Minister for State for Business, Employment and Retail, Damien English TD, to discuss implementation of the Duffy Cahill Report.

Committee Chairman Deputy Maurice Quinlivan said: “The Duffy Cahill Report from March 2016 made a number of proposals to enhance the statutory protections and entitlements of employees made redundant in a situation where assets of a business are separated from the operating company.

“We previously heard from the authors of the report and the Committee now looks forward to discussing the implementation of the proposals with the Minister, including the delay in introducing the legislation needed to give effect to the Duffy Cahill recommendations.”

The Joint Committee on Enterprise, Trade and Employment has 14 Members, nine from the Dáil and five from the Seanad.

The meeting at 9am in Committee Room 2 of Leinster House can be viewed live on Oireachtas TV.

Committee proceedings can also be viewed on the Houses of the Oireachtas Smartphone App, available for Apple and Android devices.
