The Joint Committee on the Implementation of the Good Friday Agreement will discuss the Northern Ireland economy at a meeting in Leinster House tomorrow, Tuesday, 8 December at 2pm.
Professor John Fitzgerald, Adjunct Professor, Department of Economics, TCD and Professor Edgar Morgenroth, Professor of Economics, DCU Business School will appear before the Committee remotely, via video link, for the discussion.
Speaking before the meeting, Committee Chairman Fergus O’Dowd TD said: “The Committee welcomes this engagement with economic experts to discuss the Northern Ireland economy as EU/UK trade negotiations continue against the backdrop of the fast approaching Brexit transition period deadline.
“Professor FitzGerald and Professor Morgenroth recently published research: The Northern Ireland Economy: Problems and Prospects, examining the Northern Ireland economy in recent decades. The Committee Members look forward to hearing the details of this work and the findings including investment in physical and human capital, regional economic policy, the possible impact of Brexit on the Northern Ireland economy and the best economic outcome for Northern Ireland.”
