Oireachtas Committee to hear from the Ambassador of Georgia and the Ambassador of Israel

The Joint Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defence will meet the Ambassador of Georgia George Zurabashvili and the Ambassador of Israel Ophir Kariv at a meeting in Leinster House tomorrow, Thursday, 10 December at 11.30am.

The Committee will hear from Ambassador Zurabashvili, during the first part of the meeting.

Committee Chair Charlie Flanagan TD said: “The Committee welcomes this opportunity to engage with the Ambassador of Georgia and to get an update on a number of issues including the political situation in the region, bilateral relations and EU funded reform and key areas such as public administration, agriculture, rural development and justice.”

Ambassador of Israel Ophir Kariv will address the Committee during the second part of the meeting.

Deputy Flanagan TD said: “Ireland has had bilateral diplomatic relations with Israel since 1974. The Committee welcomes this engagement with the Ambassador of Israel Ophir Kariv to discuss a range of matters including the current political status in Israel and economic and bilateral relations.”
