15 Feb 2021, 16:20

The Committee of Public Accounts (PAC) will meet tomorrow, Tuesday, 16 February, to discuss the Comptroller and Auditor General’s 2019 appropriation account for the National Shared Services Office (NSSO) and a chapter from the C&AG’s Report on the Accounts of the Public Services 2019.

The meeting at 4pm in Committee Room 3 of Leinster House will be attended by the C&AG, Seamus McCarthy, and representatives of the NSSO including its CEO, Hilary Murphy-Fagan.

The agenda will cover:

PAC Chairman Deputy Brian Stanley said: “The National Shared Services Office provides HR and payroll administration for government departments and public service bodies. The NSSO is currently developing a financial management shared services model designed to replace 31 different financial management and reporting systems in use across 48 government departments, offices and agencies with a single financial IT system supported by a new finance shared services centre. The project is significantly behind the original schedule and the final cost is likely to be well in excess of the €47.4million projected at the start in 2016. The Committee welcomes this opportunity to examine the C&AG’s accounts and his report on the implementation of the project with the NSSO.”

The meeting in Committee Room 3 can be viewed live on Oireachtas TV.

Committee proceedings can also be viewed on the Houses of the Oireachtas Smartphone App, available for Apple and Android devices.
