The Joint Committee on the Implementation of the Good Friday Agreement will meet Professor Colin Harvey and Mr Mark Bassett, tomorrow, Tuesday, 16 February in Leinster House to discuss their report: 'The EU and Irish Unity - Planning and Preparing for Constitutional Change'.
Professor Harvey, School of Law, Queen’s University Belfast and Mark Bassett, Barrister-at-Law will join the Committee, via video link, in Committee Room 3 at 10am.
Speaking before the meeting, Committee Chairman Fergus O’Dowd TD said: “The aim of their report is to encourage a conversation about the role of the EU in supporting and assisting the process of constitutional change in Ireland. The Committee welcomes this engagement with Professor Harvey and Mr Bassett to discuss their 2019 report. Topics it focuses on include The Good Friday Agreement, the EU and constitutional change, Brexit, Irish reunification and the protection of rights in the EU.”
