Transport Committee to hear from Irish Rail and ports in Ireland

The Joint Committee on Transport and Communications Networks will continue its discussion on the review of the National Development Plan at a meeting in Leinster House tomorrow, Tuesday 16th February at 1pm.

Representatives from Irish Rail, Rosslare Europort, Port of Cork, Port of Waterford and International Warehousing and Transport company will appear before the Committee via video link.

The meeting is part of a series, the Committee is undertaking to prepare its submission for the National Development Plan (NDP) review.

Speaking before the meeting, Committee chairman, Kieran O’Donnell TD said: “The review of the National Development Plan is an opportunity for the Committee to contribute its views on the future of the country’s infrastructure.  

“The Committee welcomes this engagement with Irish Rail, port representatives and an Irish owned logistics company to get their views on the future development of rail and port infrastructure in what is now a post Brexit setting.

“Their opinions and the views of all stakeholders who have appeared before the Committee for this series of hearings will be taken on board by the Committee as it formulates its submission to the review of the National Development Plan.”
