8 Mar 2021, 16:00

The Committee of Public Accounts (PAC) will meet tomorrow, Tuesday, 9 March, to discuss the 2019 Financial Statements of the Strategic Banking Corporation of Ireland.

The meeting at 9.30am will be broadcast from Committee Room 4 of Leinster House and will hear from the Comptroller and Auditor General, Seamus McCarthy, and representatives of the Strategic Banking Corporation of Ireland.

PAC Chairman Deputy Brian Stanley said: “The Strategic Banking Corporation of Ireland was set up in 2014 as a State-backed company to ensure small and medium enterprises in Ireland had access to stable, lower cost, long-term funding options. In 2019, the SBCI had €965m available from EU and State facilities to be provided in partnership with banks and financial institutions.

“The Committee looks forward to discussing their 2019 financial statements with the representatives of the SBCI. We are also interested in hearing how the SBCI plans to deal with the planned withdrawal from the Irish market of Ulster Bank, one of its lending partners for providing funding to SMEs.”

The meeting in Committee Room 4 can be viewed live on Oireachtas TV.

Committee proceedings can also be viewed on the Houses of the Oireachtas Smartphone App, available for Apple and Android devices.
