The Joint Committee on the Implementation of the Good Friday Agreement will resume its discussion on 'The EU and Irish Unity - Planning and Preparing for Constitutional Change'  paper at a meeting in Leinster House tomorrow, Tuesday, 23 March at 9.30am.

Report authors Professor Colin Harvey and Mark Basset will appear virtually in Committee Room 3 for the discussion.

Speaking before the meeting, Committee Chairman Fergus O’Dowd TD said: “Professor Colin Harvey of Queen's University Belfast and Mr. Mark Bassett, barrister at law appeared before the Committee to discuss their paper: The EU and Irish Unity: Planning and Preparing for Constitutional Change last month.

“The aim of their report is to encourage a conversation about the role of the EU in supporting and assisting the process of constitutional change in Ireland. And indeed, before our initial meeting had even ended the communications received from members was that everybody wanted our guests to return for some further debate. The Committee welcomes this opportunity to continue the engagement on issues raised in the paper.”
