29 Mar 2021, 14:15

The Joint Committee on Media, Tourism, Arts, Culture, Sport and the Gaeltacht will discuss the impact of Covid-19 on the entertainment sector when it meets tomorrow, Tuesday, 30 March.

The meeting at 12.30pm will be broadcast from Committee Room 3 of Leinster House and will be addressed remotely by representatives from:

  • Irish Music Rights Organisation (IMRO);
  • Give Us the Night;
  • Event Production Industry Covid-19 Working Group (EPIC WG).

Committee Chair Deputy Niamh Smyth said: “Like the hospitality sector which the Committee heard from last week, Covid-19 has also heavily affected the entertainment sector with the closure of pubs, clubs and venues due to public health regulations. The Committee looks forward discussing how the pandemic has impacted the entertainment community and what supports the groups believe are needed to keep the sector viable as the economy and society reopens.”

The Joint Committee on Media, Tourism, Arts, Culture, Sport and the Gaeltacht has 14 Members, nine from the Dáil and five from the Seanad.

The meeting in Committee Room 3 can be viewed live on Oireachtas TV.
